RULES FOR APIARIAN EXHIBITIONS

(held under the auspices of the Lancashire and North West Beekeepers’Association)

1 Judges shall be approved by the Association.

2 All Honey Classes (unless otherwise stated) shall be open to all members of the Association.

3 The Association’s special awards shall be awarded to Members only.

4 The Association’s special awards, if presented, will be to those Shows having at least three Honey Classes, with an average of four entries in each class, and two jars or sections (except the Gift Classes) in each class.

5 The granting of Prizes of any description by the Association to an Apiarian Exhibition depends on such exhibition being held under the Association Rules, and notice to that effect being inserted in the Schedule.

6 All Honey and Wax exhibited must be the produce of the exhibitor’s own bees.

7 Exhibitors may make more than one entry in a class, but no single exhibit may be shown in more than one Class, and an exhibitor shall not be entitled to receive more than one award in any Class. Joint owners or members of the same family shall not be entitled to more than one award in any one Class with the produce of the same apiary.

8 All extracted Honey must be exhibited in standard squat glass jars and must be of uniform size and shape in each exhibit, except display classes.

9 All extracted Honey shall be graded for colour with Grading Classes approved by the British Bee-keepers’ Association.

10 The Exhibitor’s number must be placed on the glass side of every section or frame of Comb Honey, at the right-hand top corner; the lacing of the section or frame must not exceed 3/8 inch. The Exhibitor’s number must also be affixed to every jar of extracted Honey, about ½ inch from the bottom of the jar.

11 Points shall be counted as follows:

1st Prize: 4 points,

2nd Prize: 3 points,

3rd Prize: 2 points,

Reserve: 1 point.

In the case of a tie, concerning the award of a special award or other prize to be won outright, the 1st Prize in the Class having the greater number of entries shall take priority. Should the exhibitors concerned in the tie not have a 1st Prize in the Class named, priority will be given to the one having a 2nd Prize in such Class. In the case of a tie concerning the award of a Perpetual Challenge Cup, the winners shall each hold the Cup for equal periods, relative to their number, during twelve months.

12 The winners of the Association Perpetual Silver Challenge Cups shall hold them for a period not exceeding twelve months and shall return them to the Secretary or other appointed Officer at the expiration of the period of twelve months or earlier, if so requested.

13 The Association reserves to itself the right to submit for analysis any exhibit. If any portion of a consignment of Honey sent for exhibition be found to be adulterated, the whole exhibit so sent and the fees paid shall be forfeited.

14 Any question as to the true interpretation of these Rules shall be decided by the Central Council of the Association, whose decision shall be final and binding on all parties.
