AGM & Prizegiving- Hala Carr 28/11/2006

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Minutes from the AGM held on Tuesday 28th November 2006 will be circulated in the usual manner. However, the following additional business was discussed:

Wax Foundation Press- the motion to purchase a club press for members’ use, was put to the meeting and carried by a majority vote. Richard W will investigate.

New Logo – it was unanimously agreed that a new branch logo would improve our image at this critical stage in our educational campaign. Richard S will report back with his findings from St Martins London College of Art & Design.

Meeting Format- The committee proposed that at the start of each meeting, an experienced beekeeper would give a short talk on seasonal actions and tips around the apiary. All welcomed this initiative as a useful addition to our programme schedule.

Branch BeeCraft Magazine Subscription – all agreed that a 10% or potentially a 15% saving on the subscription was worth pursing. All interested please contact the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it as soon as possible.

Re-election of the committee took place and all were co-opted with one notable exception. Bill Ashby is standing down as treasurer after 24 years of loyal service. Roger gave a special vote of thanks for all Bills hard work over the years. No more will he be hounding us for our subscriptions! He will be sorely missed. However, Sue Chapman is elected as treasurer, and we feel confident we have an excellent replacement who can take over Bills role.

Dennis then presented the Basic Beekeeping exam certificates to: Fred Ayres, Nick Brandwood, Gordon Helme, Nina Sewell, Richard Sewell, Natalia Walton, Roger Walton, Linda Wilson and Richard Wilson. He then presented the Honey show trophies.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our members, and lets hope for a good beekeeping season in 2007.
